Today’s bell tents take their origin back to 600AD and are typically made from cotton canvas. They are primarily a temporary structure intended for families and groups. However, in more recent years they have become widely used with more permanence at glamping sites around the world.

Over the years we’ve heard bell tents referred to as ‘yurts’, ‘tipis’ and even ‘big tops’ so for absolute clarity, here is the actual structure referred to as a bell tent, today:
